Position Overview

Start Early is dedicated to providing exceptional care and top-tier educational experiences for children aged birth to five years. Our programs are designed to support low-income families, focusing on fostering essential literacy, language, early mathematics, and social-emotional skills that are critical for success in early education.

As an Early Childhood Education Assistant, you will collaborate closely with the Lead Teacher to design and execute daily educational activities tailored to the developmental needs of each child. Your role will also involve ensuring that all classroom settings and activities align with federal, state, and local educational standards, while reflecting our organization's philosophy and curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and regularly update educational portfolios for each child, ensuring confidentiality is upheld.
  • Complete all necessary program documentation accurately and submit it in a timely manner.
  • Engage in recruitment initiatives to help sustain full enrollment in our programs.
  • Monitor daily attendance, health checks, and meal participation reports as directed by the Lead Teacher.
  • Observe and document each child's health, skills, behavior, and developmental progress.
  • Follow Individualized Education Programs and strategies provided by educational managers.
  • Create an environment that fosters positive self-esteem and encourages success among children.
  • Participate in family and child reviews.
  • Identify developmental concerns and adhere to agency protocols for addressing them.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
  • Utilize assessment data to create tailored learning opportunities for each child.
  • Ensure the classroom environment supports appropriate guidance and discipline in line with our policies and standards.
  • Assume classroom management responsibilities in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
  • Conduct parent conferences and home visits in accordance with established guidelines.
Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. along with six semester hours of child development coursework and at least one year of experience in early childhood education or childcare. Alternatively, candidates may hold a non-expired CDA Certification with similar experience.

  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • A biannual physical examination and TB test are mandatory for initial and ongoing employment.
  • Familiarity with Early Head Start or similar developmental childcare programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices for children aged 0-3 is essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to engage with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and a readiness to learn new technologies as needed.
Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $30,810.00 to $35,467.00, accompanied by a sign-on bonus of up to $1,500.
