Role Overview:
Free People is on a journey of growth and is excited to welcome a new store to its family.
The Retail Operations Leader will spearhead and enhance sales by adopting a comprehensive approach to the retail experience.
Their mission is to create an atmosphere that captivates and motivates customers while fostering a robust store culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Representation: Acts as a brand ambassador embodying the core values of the company; collaborates with the leadership team to design an engaging visual presentation that resonates with the Free People clientele.
Technology Advocacy: Promotes the use of technology and trains the team to engage customers effectively, ensuring a smooth and integrated retail experience; guarantees that merchandising and display setups create an inviting ambiance.
Customer Engagement: Nurtures a culture of authentic customer connections and motivates the team to establish enduring relationships through personalized service, tailored product suggestions, and genuine interactions.
Leadership & Team Development: Continuously strategizes talent development to build a strong internal team, maintains a network of potential candidates, recruits outstanding individuals, and crafts personalized career paths; facilitates comprehensive onboarding for all new hires to strengthen brand, customer, and store connections.
Participates actively as the manager-on-duty, driving engagement across all areas through effective communication, adaptability, and fostering a collaborative selling atmosphere; demonstrates strong decision-making and multitasking skills.
Prioritizes employee growth to ensure team proficiency in product knowledge and styling, providing timely and constructive feedback to cultivate a culture of accountability and action.
Visual & Operational Management: Oversees and contributes to the adherence of daily operational protocols; responsible for staff scheduling and payroll oversight.
Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure timely and effective execution of visual priorities for the store; interprets corporate visual directives to influence the store's layout, display, merchandising, and overall presentation.
Utilizes company resources to assess business opportunities related to product placement, merchandising, and inventory levels; takes initiative to engage with the local community to stay informed on trends for event ideas that foster community engagement and drive sales.
Ensures compliance with safety standards, inventory accuracy, and loss prevention measures, while upholding all company policies and procedures to support the store's profitability.
Communication & Relationship Building: Leads with an inclusive and people-centric approach; engages employees at all levels to promote open communication, reinforce accountability, and ensure that the store team feels valued and supported.
Encourages a culture of teamwork and communication to balance customer service, operational responsibilities, and visual requirements; remains informed and responsive to internal communications while ensuring that essential company information reaches all team members.
Embraces a culture of development by dedicating time to direct reports; proactively sets goals and provides feedback for the personal growth of the team.
Shares insights related to customer experiences with the District Manager and corporate partners; participates in company and district forums to share store-specific scenarios and innovative ideas.
Qualifications:
Passion for the Free People brand.
Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role within retail.
Demonstrated success in hiring and nurturing exceptional talent.
Strong understanding of merchandising processes and their impact on business outcomes.
Experience in coaching and resolving conflicts.
Flexibility to work varied hours to meet the store's needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
