Job Summary:

The Medical Records Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and protecting patient medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures. This includes organizing and storing medical records, ensuring their accuracy and completeness, and retrieving them as needed for patient care, research, and legal purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain patient medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records, including clinical documentation, diagnostic test results, and other relevant information.
  • Retrieve medical records as needed for patient care, research, and legal purposes.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Respond to requests for medical records from patients, healthcare providers, and other authorized parties in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process and track medical record requests and maintain records of disclosures.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in medical recordkeeping regulations and technology.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in health information management or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
  • Experience in medical recordkeeping, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare information technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
