About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Project Manager to join our team at Family Dollar. As a key member of our store development team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of construction projects across our network of stores.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage the construction process for new, relocated, and expanded stores, as well as remodels and renovations of existing stores.
  • Quality and Financial Management: Ensure that Dollar Tree quality and financial standards are met by monitoring store construction progress and costs, evaluating quality, and taking necessary action to keep projects on track and within defined budgets.
  • Site Visits and Communication: Visit store project sites to confirm construction progress and schedule store construction effectively. Communicate with landlords, architects/engineers, and general contractors to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of construction projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to keep them informed of project status at all times.
  • Project Tracking and Reporting: Input, maintain, and manage all applicable construction key dates in the project management/tracking system.
  • Contract Management: Effectively manage all facets of the construction contract, including project award, scheduling, change order process, and project close-out.
  • Site Visit and Punch List Management: Conduct site visits as required to ensure projects are kept on schedule and weekly updates are provided on schedule deviation. Manage the RFC (request for change) and CO (change order) process, including analyzing legitimacy and cost of change orders.
  • Warranty and Close-Out: Ensure completion of store punch list items and follow up on all warranty items in a timely manner. Maintain and input all construction key dates and ensure all construction documents are uploaded into the SLM program for project close-out.
  • Cost Estimation and Process Improvement: Provide cost estimates on new projects and recommend opportunities for process improvements.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5-10+ years of construction project management experience in the retail industry, including tenant improvement and new, ground-up construction, managing multiple projects at one time across a multi-state territory.
  • Education: College degree in a construction-related field.
  • Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel and Word primarily, PowerPoint preferred). Technical training and/or experience in building code, estimating, mechanical, electrical, and/or structural disciplines.
