About the position Electric Transmission Interconnection Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, acquisition, and operational activities of the company's energy generation projects, focusing on electric transmission, interconnection, and market dynamics.
  • Facilitate the preparation, submission, and management of generator interconnection applications while adhering to necessary study protocols.
  • Conduct power flow evaluations, analyze models, and assess studies to identify potential upgrades and associated costs related to interconnection.
  • Coordinate and analyze interconnection and transmission studies conducted by utility companies and external consultants.
  • Contribute to the formulation of strategies for entering new markets and identifying optimal zones for greenfield development across various sectors.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of significant congestion challenges within different ISOs and RTOs.
  • Provide support to the M&A team regarding transmission, interconnection, and congestion matters, and assist in developing insights on preferred markets and zones.
  • Help in establishing supply stack assumptions across diverse markets and assist in conducting economic assessments and production cost modeling to support due diligence efforts.
  • Engage with key ISO/RTO stakeholder processes and offer valuable input on critical market and policy issues.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in competitive generation, consulting, or ISO/RTO environments.
  • Proficient understanding of interconnection processes and market frameworks across various ISOs and RTOs.
  • Experience with load flow analysis software such as GE PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, PSSE, or PowerWorld is essential.
  • Familiarity with economic analysis tools like PROMOD, Gridview, or Dayzer is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
