Behavioral Health Department Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Behavioral Health Department as a Department Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring that staff provide high-quality, patient-focused care and services that meet or exceed cost, quality, clinical, and utilization standards.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Supervise and manage a team of healthcare professionals to ensure effective delivery of patient care services.
- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to support the organization's goals and business objectives.
- Collaborate with physicians, department chiefs, and nursing managers to develop and implement patient care services and day-to-day operations.
- Quality and Patient Safety
- Ensure that staff provide high-quality, patient-focused care and services that meet or exceed cost, quality, clinical, and utilization standards.
- Implement and maintain patient care and quality service standards to meet members' and internal clients' expectations.
- Financial Management
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets and resource allocations.
- Monitor financial performance and identify and recommend strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
- Human Resources and Development
- Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff.
- Assist in providing ongoing staff development and coaching to ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care services.
- Education and Experience
- Masters Degree in psychology, social sciences, nursing, or related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience post-licensure in behavioral health or other relevant healthcare experience required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in an Integrated Primary Care Behavioral Health Department.
- Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Social Worker (Colorado) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Colorado) OR Psychologist License (Colorado) OR Professional Counselor License (Colorado)
- Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills; knowledge of ambulatory care practices/operations/issues.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency with electronic health record as indicated within six months of hire.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the following areas: Service Orientation, Communication, Influence, Change Leadership, Results Orientation, Leadership Development, and Cultural Competence.
