SUMMARY:

The Director of Training and Supervision, under the guidance of the Counseling Center Director within the Division of Student Affairs, is responsible for overseeing the management of programs and services related to individual and group psychotherapy, faculty consultation, crisis intervention, and educational outreach initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Graduate Training program, including intern recruitment, program review, and orientation/professional development for master's level practicum students and interns.
  • Provide supervision, consultation, and professional development for LPC-Associates, including intake and clinical assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and counseling.
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of professional counseling staff, practicum/intern students, and graduate assistants.
  • Manage educational outreach services related to mental health issues and student concerns, including participation in university committees.
  • Engage in weekly case conferences and informal consultations to ensure coordinated client care.
  • Maintain a client caseload and manage responsibilities associated with client monitoring.
  • Adhere to timelines for assigned projects, clinical documentation, and other responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional licensure and engage in relevant professional development activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: MS, MA, or M.Ed. in Counseling; LPC licensure in Texas and BHEC Board Approved supervisor status.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of clinical experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Experience in a professional counseling setting, with a focus on assessing and intervening in various mental health concerns.
  • Training: Advanced training or certification in telehealth and trauma treatment modalities.
  • Abilities: Strong multitasking and collaboration skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and proficiency in DSM-V diagnostic criteria.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Current LPC license and BHEC Board Approved supervisor license in Texas.
  • Other Requirements: Availability to work beyond standard office hours and weekends as needed for emergencies or educational outreach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a college counseling center or similar university environment. Bilingual candidates (preferably Spanish-speaking) are encouraged to apply.

SUPERVISION:

This position involves supervising counselors, psychologists, LPC-Associates, student workers, graduate assistants, interns, and practicum students.
