Overview


In this role, you will leverage your instructional expertise and GIS proficiency to empower clients with our cutting-edge GIS solutions.

As an Esri Instructor, you will foster an engaging learning atmosphere through hands-on training, interactive teaching methods, and stimulating activities.

You will collaborate with organizations to enhance the utilization of ArcGIS maps and applications throughout their operations, articulating the strategic significance of GIS initiatives.


Your contributions in this position will benefit Esri clients across diverse sectors, including but not limited to Defense and Intelligence, Public Safety, and Health and Human Services.

The efforts you invest will enable clients to enhance their ArcGIS skills, productivity, and confidence, while also ensuring the sustainability of GIS workflows and operations.

Responsibilities

Enhance User Skills:

Design and implement training programs through various formats, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid offerings, to elevate users' proficiency in ArcGIS software both domestically and internationally.

Identify and address skill gaps through targeted training sessions and workshops. Provide ongoing support and guidance to users, addressing their inquiries and assisting them in overcoming challenges.

Stay informed about the latest GIS trends and technologies to ensure that training content remains relevant and current.

Ensure Sustainable GIS Workflows: Collaborate with clients to comprehend their business processes and requirements. Provide guidance and training on best practices for designing and implementing sustainable GIS workflows. Deliver workshops and training sessions to educate clients on sustainable GIS practices. Support clients in overcoming challenges and addressing any skill gaps related to workflow sustainability.

Promote the Use of ArcGIS: Actively advocate for the adoption of ArcGIS across client groups. Identify potential applications for ArcGIS in various business processes and demonstrate its value through facilitation. Develop and deliver training workshops and sessions to showcase the capabilities of ArcGIS. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and customize ArcGIS solutions accordingly.

Communicate the Impact of GIS: Create compelling narratives and visualizations to effectively convey the impact of GIS. Collaborate with Content Development and Creation teams to produce engaging materials, such as case studies and success stories. Present the value of GIS to clients. Stay updated on industry trends and research to provide insights on the broader impact of GIS across various domains.

Requirements

8+ years of professional experience utilizing Esri's software capabilities with a focus on ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro.

2+ years of professional experience in classroom facilitation and instructional delivery.

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while prioritizing client needs.

Strong listening skills and the capacity to incorporate feedback for continuous improvement of instructional delivery and course materials.

Proven ability to collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

20% travel time within the year to support an average of 10-15 onsite client training sessions annually.

Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Information Science, or a related field.

Recommended Qualifications

Familiarity with web-based meeting tools.

Completion of an Esri technical certification and facilitation certification.

Demonstrated technical writing ability.

Up to 40% travel time, including international travel, to support an additional 10-15 client engagements.

Master's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Information Science, or a related field.
