Overview

This position requires availability for day and evening shifts, with a work schedule from Monday to Thursday.

Under the supervision of a designated manager, the Campus Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring and securing the college premises to ensure the safety and welfare of individuals, buildings, grounds, equipment, and other property belonging to the District.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular patrols of campus facilities and grounds, both on foot and using a vehicle; safeguard property against fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access; ensure the safety of parked vehicles; enforce parking regulations; issue citations for violations; inspect and verify the security of doors, windows, and gates; manage lighting systems; secure access points.

Investigate and report the presence of unauthorized individuals on campus; address disturbances in accordance with departmental protocols; observe and document incidents; assist in the apprehension of offenders when necessary.

Assess unusual or potentially hazardous situations; report any leaks or equipment malfunctions; notify relevant personnel regarding impaired systems; take appropriate emergency measures.

Provide escort services for faculty, staff, and students as needed.
Report medical emergencies, including illnesses, shock, seizures, and bleeding; summon the appropriate medical personnel.
Submit regular reports of activities, including incident and accident reports; issue parking citations and warnings; assist fellow security personnel as required.

Transport funds as requested.
Perform additional duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to: completion of high school and one year of experience in a security role. Additional specialized training in law enforcement, public administration, or a related field is preferred.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Proof of completion of School Security Course certification.
Possession of a current Guard Card.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid CPR and First Aid certifications.
Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical assessment.
Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.

Knowledge and Skills

KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and procedures of investigation, arrest, search, and seizure.
Emergency response and crowd control procedures.
Record keeping and report preparation principles.

ABILITY TO: Learn and apply relevant provisions of the State Penal Code, Vehicle Code, and Education Code.
Operate a patrol vehicle and related equipment safely and effectively.
Conduct investigations in accordance with District policies.
Analyze and respond to situations promptly and independently as per District guidelines.
Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals encountered during the course of work.
