POSITION SUMMARY

The City of Ridgecrest is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Lateral Police Officer. This position is integral to maintaining public safety and upholding the law within the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct regular patrols in designated areas to identify and respond to potential criminal activities or threats to public safety.
  • Respond to emergency calls and traffic incidents, providing assistance and enforcing traffic regulations.
  • Engage in both preliminary and follow-up investigations of various incidents, including disturbances, thefts, and accidents.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to enhance crime investigation efforts and apprehend offenders.
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and activities.
  • Provide assistance to the public, answering inquiries and delivering first aid when necessary.

FACILITY INFORMATION

The Police Department operates from a modern facility designed to support law enforcement activities and community engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/30.
  • Successful completion of a P.O.S.T. approved medical and psychological examination.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a P.O.S.T. approved basic academy or recent employment with a California Law Enforcement Agency.

CERTIFICATION

  • Possession of a P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate is preferred.
  • A valid California Driver's License is required prior to appointment.
