Position Overview

As a result of our expanding operations in North America, we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Service Engineer to become a vital part of the Sophion Biosciences team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the peak performance and reliability of our automated QPatch II and Qube systems at various client locations. Your responsibilities will encompass troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and working closely with diverse teams to implement system upgrades. Additionally, you will provide thorough training sessions and conduct regular evaluations to maintain the highest standards of instrument performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Installation and Setup: Execute on-site installation and commissioning of Sophion's Automated Patch Clamp systems, ensuring compliance with client specifications and quality benchmarks.
  2. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of QPatch and Qube systems to guarantee continuous operation. Respond to service requests promptly and provide effective solutions.
  3. Client Training: Deliver comprehensive training to clients on the effective use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Sophion's Automated Patch Clamp systems, ensuring they understand all features and functionalities.
  4. Technical Support: Act as a primary contact for technical inquiries, addressing client questions and fostering strong relationships to enhance customer satisfaction.
  5. Documentation: Prepare detailed service reports and maintain accurate records of all service activities, providing valuable feedback to the engineering team for ongoing product enhancement.
  6. Collaboration: Work in conjunction with sales and engineering teams to relay client feedback, suggest potential product improvements, and identify opportunities for additional services or products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent certifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of liquid handling devices across various industry systems, ensuring proper integration and functionality.
  • Hands-on experience in field service roles.
  • Familiarity with service management systems and processes.
  • Experience with Festo pressure systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage MySQL and Oracle databases for seamless system integration.
  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting network setups, routers, and DHCP configurations to ensure optimal connectivity.
  • Basic understanding of Linux systems to address software and operating system challenges.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with clients and colleagues, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires travel, with expectations of approximately 80% initially, decreasing to 60-80% following the completion of initial training.
