DCS Corp is seeking a highly skilled Aeronautical Data Chain Systems Engineer to support the Aerospace Management Systems Division Programs at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. This position will be part of a team that develops, delivers, and sustains air traffic management, CNS/ATM avionics expertise, and weather sensing/forecast capabilities for military, civil, and allied customers.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Expertise: Provide oversight and auditing of software design, development, integration, and testing for navigational databases.
- Contractor Auditing: Participate in auditing contractors and government agencies involved in producing data meeting FAA Type 1 and Type 2 Letter of Acceptance requirements.
- System Review: Review, analyze, and assess contractor implementations of systems and associated software services, including derived requirements specifications, design documents, interface control documents, source code, and design implementation.
- Standards Development: Participate in forums for database processing standards development.
- DAFIF and ARINC 424 Expertise: Provide specific knowledge and expertise on the Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) format and the ARINC 424 navigational database format.
- Verification Tools: Be involved in the development of verification tools for navigational databases.
- Recommendations: Develop recommendations for the Government on how well designs satisfy current requirements and business goals.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in team meetings to develop plans and contingencies for system implementation.
- U.S. Citizenship: Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Security Clearance: An adjudicated DoD Secret Security clearance on the first day of employment.
- Technical Background: A highly technical background, implementing or auditing compliance to RTCA DO-200B and FAA AC20-153B.
- Aeronautical Data Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of how aeronautical data translates into the flight paths of aircraft.
- Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms on highly technical topics is critical.
- Travel: Ability to travel; anticipate ~8 trips per year (~ 80% domestic and 20% international).
- International Standards: Knowledge and experience to actively participate in international standards bodies that develop and revise standards for aeronautical databases.
- Aeronautical Navigational Databases: Experience working with aeronautical navigational databases highly.
- Software Architecture: Experience in software architecture design.
- Critical Thinking: Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Teamwork: Proactive and responsive team member.
- Technical Documentation: Experience in reviewing and writing technical documentation and reports.
- Version Control: Experience with version control and bug tracking (GIT, SVN, etc.) and agile development.
- XML: XML experience.
