We are seeking a qualified Senior Avionics Engineer to become part of our team working on a significant Defense Acquisition Program.
Job Location: Various locations across the U.S.
Employment Type: Full-Time; salaried
Travel Requirements: Approximately 10%
Essential Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in engineering development initiatives, including documentation, design schematics, engineering modifications, and conducting design evaluations to facilitate government ownership of the technical baseline.
- Minimum of an Engineering degree with 15 years of experience in aeronautical engineering or weapon systems development, with at least 8 years supporting DoD acquisition contracts.
- Required Security Clearance: Secret (minimum); Top Secret (preferred).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in an engineering field with 12 years of experience in aircraft and/or tactical communications, including 5 years within the DoD.
- Experience with major aircraft development and integration projects is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive knowledge of aircraft structures, flight control systems, and avionics subsystems to assess integration strategies for the replacement aircraft.
- Deliver expert guidance to ensure the design viability of the weapon system and compliance with performance standards.
- Contribute technical insights regarding aircraft aerodynamic design and performance modifications.
- Support processes for acquiring and maintaining commercial derivative aircraft, including safety and effectiveness programs.
- Evaluate contractor designs and deliverables to ensure compliance with aircraft-related requirements.
- Develop and implement integrity and corrosion prevention programs for the replacement fleet.
- Manage certification processes for aerial refueling capabilities.
- Analyze design considerations for size, power, cooling, and weight balance.
- Assist in test planning and execution for the replacement fleet.
- Prepare technical documentation outlining system characteristics and specifications.
- Conduct formal trade studies assessing performance, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Provide support for proposal analysis and requirements documentation.
