Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our team at the Coast Guard Community Services Command. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the business for our retail stores and web platform, including creating effective assortments, influencing product creation, and maximizing business by style by store.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in merchandising and/or buying experience in a multi-store operation, with a proven track record of driving top-line sales and profitability. They will also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Assistant Buyer will work closely with Regional Managers and store management to address and maximize business opportunities, and will maintain collaborative partnerships with vendors and internal colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the business for our retail stores and web platform
  • Create effective assortments and influence product creation
  • Maximize business by style by store

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years general experience in merchandising and/or one year buying experience in a multi-store operation
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Office with basic Excel experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with emphasis in retail, business administration, or related field
  • Retail buying experience in a multi-store operation as a Buyer, Associate/Assistant Buyer, pricing specialist or merchandiser
  • Experience with business analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • One+ Merchandise Information System experience in a multi-store environment
  • Experience in Merchandise Planning System in a multi-store environment
