PacifiCorp is seeking a skilled professional to contribute to our commitment to exceptional customer service, environmental sustainability, and diversity and inclusion.

As a key member of our team, you will work on designing and troubleshooting telecommunications and network communications systems that support electrical system operations. Your responsibilities will include provisioning and programming telecommunications and network equipment, such as microwave radios, fiber optic terminals, and network switches. You will also be responsible for specifying and ordering carrier services from telecom providers and phone companies.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Designing complex networking and communications systems, developing networking diagrams, and carrying out advanced network programming for phone and network systems.
  • Providing technical expertise and consulting services to other departments to solve networking and communications needs.
  • Managing major projects or system upgrades as a project manager, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all projects, including technical specifications and operational procedures.
  • Writing equipment specifications and procuring equipment for projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Designing and testing new telecommunications or network systems as needed, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Providing budget recommendations for construction projects and future system requirements, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Analyzing system issues and implementing solutions, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system availability.
  • Leading systems capacity planning and providing technical leadership to staff, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency.
  • Providing technical input to aid in project planning and handling any additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Requirements for this role include:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years of experience in telecommunications or networking, with a strong understanding of various telecom technologies and operational requirements.
  • Ability to document system designs using computer-aided drafting programs or similar software, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of telecom systems and operational requirements, with a strong understanding of electrical utility operations and circuit requirements.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
