Role Overview

TikTok stands as a premier platform for short-form mobile video, dedicated to fostering creativity and joy. Within our U.S. Data Security division, we emphasize robust governance and protection of user data, ensuring a safe environment for our community.

The Application Security Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in assessing and validating essential security measures for both existing and upcoming TikTok offerings. This position collaborates with diverse teams to integrate application security best practices throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive security architecture design evaluations.
  • Perform security assessments from an adversarial viewpoint utilizing both manual and automated tools.
  • Execute thorough manual and automated reviews of source code.
  • Identify and address risks in novel situations.
  • Establish security requirements to mitigate identified risks.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders to ensure early identification and management of risks.
  • Effectively communicate complex security topics to stakeholders and leadership in an accessible manner.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication, and security protocols.
  • Over 5 years of experience in audit, compliance, and enterprise risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and resolve ambiguous challenges.
  • Hands-on experience in security engineering disciplines such as penetration testing, source code review, design review, threat modeling, and security tooling development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in coding and reviewing in at least two of the following languages: Kotlin, Swift, TypeScript, Go, or Python.
  • Advanced understanding of various security domains, including web application security, mobile app security, network security, operating system hardening, applied cryptography, and cloud computing.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills.
