JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for monitoring cardiac telemetry systems to detect rhythm alterations.

This role is essential in addressing the needs of the patient demographic served, as outlined in the department's service scope.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Monitors cardiac telemetry systems for heart rhythm changes.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Consistently applies Lead II lead placement for monitoring.
  • Documents cardiac rhythms every 8 hours and records changes accurately.
  • Monitors equipment diligently and documents findings consistently.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations following protocols.
  • Notifies nursing staff of any cardiac changes.
  • Ensures proper function and maintenance of telemetry equipment.

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains knowledge of and complies with all applicable HIPAA regulations relevant to the position, including handling of medical records and patient information.


SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains knowledge of and adheres to safety practices relevant to the position, including incident reporting and exposure control measures.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
1 year of experience as a monitor technician preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Completion of an EKG course or equivalent is required.

SPECIAL SKILLS, LICENSES, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Proficient computer and clerical skills are necessary.
