This position is integral to a multidisciplinary team, responsible for managing the operations within the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Key responsibilities include operating diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac imaging equipment, monitoring patient vitals, performing essential calculations, and assisting physicians during procedures as needed. Additionally, the role involves preparing procedure rooms, equipment, and patients.

Educational Background

Required – Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences

Preferred – Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences

Professional Experience

Required – None

Preferred – 2 years of experience in a relevant allied health role

Certifications

Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA within 6 months of hire

Registered Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice and certification from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based applications and specific software relevant to the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with experience in managing complex tasks that may pose risks to patient safety and the ability to identify equipment malfunctions.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders in high-pressure situations.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local radiation safety regulations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient preparation and setup prior to procedures, and ensure proper cleanup and patient transfer post-procedure.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in procedure logs to reflect interventions and ensure correct billing.
  • Operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images related to coronary and peripheral vascular conditions.
  • Monitor patient hemodynamics during procedures and communicate findings to the attending physician.
  • Oversee radiation dose delivery to patients, ensuring minimal exposure to staff.
  • Manage the transmission, archiving, and retrieval of digital images using picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • Perform quality control measures and routine maintenance on imaging equipment.
  • Adapt communication and interaction styles to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Execute additional related duties as assigned.
