JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION
To support technical operations within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory by ensuring safe patient care; managing and utilizing physiological monitoring systems; assisting medical professionals; processing imaging results; and executing all other designated responsibilities. Effectively addresses challenges and scenarios in invasive and therapeutic cardiac interventions by leveraging advanced cardiovascular expertise and competencies. Executes duties for the specific age demographics served, as outlined in the department's service scope.

CRITERIA A:

JOB FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

1. Monitors patient safety during procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Effectively orients patients to their environment and addresses their physiological and psychological needs.
  • Accurately evaluates laboratory values.
  • Recognizes and responds effectively to emergency situations.
  • Administers life support as necessary, adhering to protocols.
  • Records procedural events accurately.
  • Demonstrates understanding of hemodynamic data collected during procedures.
  • Possesses knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy and physiology.
2. Operates technical equipment during procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Displays proficiency in operating lab equipment.
  • Participates in training related to new products as required.
3. Conducts diagnostic and therapeutic monitoring, ensuring accurate documentation and billing.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Interprets and conveys relevant diagnostic information to physicians accurately.
  • Accurately logs all patient assessments and billing information into the computerized system.
4. Assists physicians during procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Prepares sterile environments according to established standards.
  • Ensures the correct supplies are available based on physician preferences.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in invasive and interventional procedures.
  • Anticipates physician needs during procedures by having necessary items ready.
5. Circulates during procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Maintains awareness of the ongoing situation during procedures, anticipating needs.
  • Monitors patient vital signs and changes in condition.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of equipment use and location.
  • Anticipates physician needs related to equipment and alternatives.
6. Assists in the maintenance of the Cath Lab.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Ensures cleanliness and proper stocking of the lab.
  • Maintains current inventory and orders necessary supplies.
  • Checks in new products and files relevant data.
7. Performs all other assigned duties.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
2 years of experience in invasive procedures preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or cardiovascular technology with registry completion preferred.
Current licensure preferred.
BLS Certification required.

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations relevant to the position, including but not limited to: medical records, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, and patient financial information.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices relevant to the position, including incident reporting, waste handling, and patient identification.
