Job Description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our client's expanding financial operations. This role is integral to maintaining the integrity of financial data and ensuring compliance with established accounting standards.

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in the accounting department, handling a variety of tasks that contribute to the accuracy and completeness of financial records. Responsibilities include preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring adherence to accounting regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General Ledger Oversight:
    • Maintain and update the general ledger through accurate journal entries.
    • Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements to confirm their accuracy and completeness.
  • Account Reconciliation:
    • Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank statements, credit card accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
    • Identify and rectify discrepancies by investigating and correcting errors.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Support the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Assist in creating management reports and variance analyses as needed.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
    • Oversee and process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all financial activities.
    • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, providing analysis of budget variances.
    • Support the development and implementation of financial planning tools and processes.
  • Compliance and Audit Support:
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
    • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial transactions.
    • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and files.
  • Process Enhancement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function.
    • Assist with the implementation of new accounting systems and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment. Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Compensation: $30-$35/hour DOE
