Job Overview

Summary: Mack Molding is seeking a qualified individual to oversee, develop, and execute health and safety initiatives and policies. This role will work closely with management to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations, foster employee involvement, and drive continuous enhancements to prevent workplace incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, implement, and uphold health, safety, and environmental protocols in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, alongside Mack Molding's internal EHS policies.
  • Possess a solid understanding of OSHA regulations, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 standards, and EPA guidelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of safety audits, training activities, incidents, and regulatory permits.
  • Promote ongoing improvements for a secure work environment by engaging employees through safety committees and thorough orientation programs.
  • Facilitate training and ensure adherence to safety investigation protocols as per Mack's Safety Programs. Utilize digital tools to analyze site trends and implement preventative measures while collaborating with employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Collaborate with program managers to sustain, implement, and enforce site-specific safety initiatives, procedures, and regulatory training, addressing high-risk areas and conducting safety evaluations.
  • Lead safety investigations, assess trends, and partner with leadership to devise prevention strategies.
  • Work alongside the Company Nurse and HR Director to monitor site safety metrics, accident patterns, and ensure prompt reporting of worker's compensation claims.
  • Oversee hazardous waste management and programs across all Mack North locations.
  • Provide expert guidance and direct support to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and permit obligations.
  • Maintain, update, and manage the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program.
  • Ensure compliance with contractor safety standards.

  • Displays strong influencing and persuasion skills at all organizational levels, from operational staff to senior management.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Candidates should possess 5-7 years of safety management experience, with a minimum of 5 years in the manufacturing sector. A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline is preferred. Certifications such as HAZWOPER, RCRA, and DOT are advantageous.

Language Proficiency:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Proficient in presenting information and addressing inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Computer Skills:

Successful candidates should possess knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, with three to five years of experience using ERP systems, preferably MAPICS.
