Job Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Director will oversee the preventative maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles, providing strategic direction to a team of diesel technicians. This role will implement monitoring maintenance policies and procedures, ensuring all repairs are performed in compliance with company, federal, and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction to on-site technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair and maintenance work.
  • Oversee coordination, planning, and scheduling of all repair work to increase productivity and monitor shop operational performance and efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on maintenance assistance and training as needed to ensure opportunity for personal and professional growth among technicians.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program to set the standard for service excellence and identify trends in road calls and break downs.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs and maintenance to ensure all work is properly completed in accordance with company safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems of company vehicles.
  • Manage professional business relationships with external vendors and maintain knowledge of all equipment warranties.
  • Make purchases, manage inventory, complete warranty recovery, and repair order processing utilizing maintenance management software.
  • Execute parts inventory management processes, including conducting physical inventory, parts ordering, reviving, coordinating parts pick-up and delivery, and stocking inventory.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills and ensure compliance with all applicable corporate, federal, and state rules and regulations by communicating clear goals and providing coaching and development opportunities.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • 5 or more years of experience, with 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Relevant certifications in safety training and techniques for process improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency with computer programs, including Microsoft Office applications.
