Job Description

We are seeking a skilled fabrication technician to join our team at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. As an Inside Machinist, you will be responsible for performing various assembly and machining processes in a shop environment.

This is a highly skilled position that requires precision layout, measuring, and mathematical skills to calculate dimensions and tolerances. You will work with conventional lathes, mills, VTL's, HBM's, grinders, and programmable machines to assemble, test, and inspect components for function and precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and machine parts according to blueprint specifications
  • Use precision measurement tools to ensure accuracy
  • Operate conventional and programmable machines
  • Disassemble, assemble, test, and inspect components

Requirements:

  • 6 years of experience as an Inside Machinist
  • Familiarity with ship repair terminology and compartment location
  • Ability to interpret drawings, sketches, tech manuals, and user manuals
  • Mathematical skills to calculate dimensions and tolerances
