Job Overview

Lyon Shipyard Inc. is a leading provider of ship repair and construction services. We are seeking an experienced Ship Fitter 1st Class to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel fabrication, with excellent math skills and a good mechanical aptitude. This position requires the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and install interior structures, hatches, doors, and bulkheads on ships.
  • Cut, grind, shape, fit, and tack weld steel plates.
  • Use various tools and measuring devices to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Work safely and effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school degree or equivalent.
  • Apprentice or trade school experience in ship fitting or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in ship fitting, with a combination of hands-on experience and technical knowledge.
  • Strong math skills and a good mechanical aptitude.
  • The ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.

We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
