Position Overview

We are looking to enhance our team and are seeking a qualified candidate for our Building Envelope division.

This role will report to senior management and will encompass a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Material Expertise: Familiarity with building envelope materials, components, and systems, along with evaluation methods for both new and existing structures.
  • Design and Analysis: Engage in building envelope design, detailing, and analysis, while participating in testing, fabrication, and construction oversight.
  • Advisory Role: Provide guidance to architects and clients regarding building enclosure performance, constructability, and longevity.
  • Project Phases: Proficient in various phases of building envelope construction projects, including shop drawings, modeling, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Proposal Development: Draft proposals and cost estimates for new projects, including additional services and change orders.
  • Resource Management: Provide short-term and long-term manpower estimates and update as necessary.
  • Project Updates: Regularly meet with management to discuss project progress and staffing requirements.
  • Communication: Maintain ongoing communication regarding project status and involve management in project reviews for technical support.
  • Education and Support: Assist management and staff in educating clients and the team on recent industry developments and codes.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated history of successful project management and deliverable completion.
  • Field Oversight: Conduct and oversee field reviews and progress inspections on assigned projects.
  • Documentation: Maintain well-organized reports on project-related activities.
  • Code Familiarity: Ensure knowledge of local building codes.
  • Performance Advisory: Advise management on project performance, key issues, scheduling, and completion estimates.
  • Client Relations: Establish effective communication and relationships with clients and management teams.
  • Technical Skills: Produce detailed designs through hand sketching and utilizing 2D and 3D CAD software as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide support to ensure client needs and internal timelines are met.
  • Documentation Management: Keep detailed records of work progression from initial proposal to project completion.
  • Budget Management: Assist in managing project budgetary requirements and technical deliverables.
  • Resource Updates: Provide updates on manpower and resource availability.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Occasionally present white papers or case studies to technical teams.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor staff or team members.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in building envelope projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Registered Architect or Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Master's degree in Architecture or Engineering preferred.
  • Understanding of architectural design principles and local regulations.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Building envelope certifications are a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Self-motivated with effective workload management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a comprehensive perspective.
