Position Summary
The Construction Survey Specialist is accountable for overseeing the survey teams responsible for accurately positioning temporary and permanent structures essential for construction projects. This role involves maintaining clear communication with the Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager regarding all survey-related elements of the projects, particularly concerning layout and as-built data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of project drawings, specifications, and all relevant contract documents.
- Establish the job site with necessary control points for all surveying tasks.
- Identify and coordinate the required survey equipment for various tasks and job sites.
- Analyze construction schedules and effectively manage the survey crew's timelines.
- Create and update job site models (CAD) to reflect any RFI changes.
- Provide survey teams with essential information for site layout.
- Gather as-built data from survey crews and keep the project team updated with all relevant information.
- Engage in the planning, execution, and management of self-perform work, preparing necessary drawings and sketches to facilitate construction.
- Familiarize with and adhere to established procedures, including the Project Manual and Safety Guidelines.
- Promote a culture of safety on job sites and demonstrate a commitment to safety practices.
- Work collaboratively with large teams while exhibiting self-motivation.
- Support the quality program by identifying and advocating for new methods and procedures to enhance field operations.
- Facilitate training and development for the survey crew, including Party Chiefs, Instrument Men, and Rodmen.
- Maintain a positive public and community image for McCarthy Building Companies at all times.
Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge of survey equipment.
- Understanding of construction project timelines.
- Ability to create and assess red line drawings.
- Expertise in CAD drafting and familiarity with the latest AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Safety-oriented mindset.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering is advantageous.
