Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Assistant to join our team at Hudson Headwaters Health Network. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and visitors promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression of our healthcare facility.
  • Assists patients, team members, and providers with incoming and outgoing calls, faxes, and correspondence, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Identifies emergency situations and takes appropriate actions to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Schedules and reschedules patient appointments, prioritizing availability of provider schedules and maximizing efficiency.
  • Collects copays, coinsurance, and self-pay balances at time of visit, offering patients the option to participate in our sliding fee program.
  • Checks patients out, including scheduling follow-up appointments and processing referrals not requiring prior authorization.
  • Reconciles payment batch amounts daily, reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
  • Performs all procedures in opening and closing departments in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • Protects the confidentiality of patient electronic medical records in accordance with policy and procedure.
  • Attends all expected training and meetings, assisting the Patient Services Manager or Lead with training Patient Services staff as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer training and/or medical terminology training preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a medical office setting or equivalent training/education required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Experience working with a diverse population required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with EMR and knowledge of billing a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
Pay Rate

The pay rate for this position is $19.00/hour.
