As a Patient Scheduling Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and accurate scheduling of appointments with physicians, cancer center treatments, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

* Schedule multiple appointments and exams, including labs, MD visits, and Medical Imaging procedures, accurately and efficiently via computer scheduling system, phone, and/or fax in collaboration with ancillary departments.
* Identify proper sequencing of exams and schedules accordingly.
* Serve as a patient liaison and coordinator with physicians, clinical staff, Medical and Radiation Oncology, other departments, and ancillary hospital personnel to ensure appropriate testing and scheduling occurs.
* Review physician orders and ensure orders have been received for all required exams and procedures; obtain additional written orders from physician when necessary to prevent omission of a required test or procedure.

Team Impact:

* Welcome, observe, and monitor patient waiting or holding areas adjacent to location for timeliness and patient problems. Notify nursing staff if problems or delays arise.
* Schedule appointments and exams in a timely and accurate manner, prioritizing according to individual patient needs.
* Communicate with patients and physicians to ensure scheduling needs and appointments are met.

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 1-2 years of experience in patient scheduling or a related field preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
