The leader in Portfolio Development & Enablement will formulate and implement strategies aimed at expanding and optimizing a substantial portfolio of alternative ventures on a national level. This role is accountable for the profitable management of the portfolio and the identification of various business risks, including credit, operational, and reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with underwriting and distribution teams to analyze, execute, and strategically position new ventures and deals.
- Establish and operationalize processes for deal management, focusing on the unique pre- and post-bind requirements associated with loss-sensitive business.
- Oversee portfolio management processes and analytics to ensure optimal performance.
- Serve as the subject matter expert, providing business requirements for new technology initiatives.
- Outsource and supervise essential services required for the operation of this specialized business segment.
- Influence and educate internal stakeholders across various organizational levels.
- Assist in developing and managing the credit and collateral management functions.
- Lead a team of approximately 8-10 associates focused on Underwriting Enablement, Portfolio Management, and New Venture Review & Support.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Vice President of Alternative Ventures.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is required; an MBA and/or relevant licensing is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience in underwriting, data management, finance, or related technical fields is required. Experience across multiple platforms, particularly in underwriting and technology, is highly desirable. Prior leadership experience is also preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Comprehensive knowledge of insurance, pricing, and financial principles, along with an understanding of various lines of business.
- Proven ability to identify potential issues and implement effective solutions that impact the broader internal business network.
- Capability to design and refine repeatable processes for continuous improvement.
- Exceptional communication skills necessary for influencing and negotiating with both internal and external partners.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage competing tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated adaptability and organizational savvy.
- Innovative and strategic thinking skills to propose and implement both short-term and long-term solutions.
- Ability to build and develop teams by recruiting, training, and managing talent, while serving as a brand representative for the organization.
- Regularly consult with and advise senior management and stakeholders on significant matters affecting business viability and profitability.
