The Referral Coordinator's duties include the coordination, processing, and obtaining prior authorizations, as well as requesting reports for various medical referrals for services and procedures as directed by healthcare providers. This role also involves collaboration with other referral personnel, medical professionals, and patient care support teams to facilitate effective communication and ensure the successful tracking and management of referrals.

This position is based at our Patient Navigation Center and requires a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, working alongside a dedicated, customer service-oriented team that values a positive work environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Assistant (MA) in an outpatient environment, or in medical case management.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures, including CPT and ICD codes.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard hours (e.g., 8 AM to 5 PM and rotating Saturdays).
  • Proficiency in PC-based software applications and the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Two years of experience in referral coordination or medical assisting.
  • Understanding of insurance providers, their portals, and authorization approval processes.
  • Medical Assistant certification.
  • Experience in a community health center.
  • Familiarity with EHR and registration/billing software.
