Job Summary

The Bilingual Patient Advocate will play a critical role in connecting uninsured hospital patients to programs that cover their medical expenses. This position requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to navigate complex government programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance
  • Complete applications and follow through until approved
  • Document cases accurately and timely in company and hospital systems
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive relationship with patients and hospital staff
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors to ensure seamless patient care
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork for Medicaid patients
  • Maintain structured contact with applicants and government agencies
  • Assist patients with gathering reports or records, meeting appointment dates, and arranging transportation as needed
  • Inform clients of approvals and denials of coverage in a timely manner
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Adaptability and experience working with state and federal programs
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment
