Job Title: Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology

Auburn University is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology to join our faculty in the School of Kinesiology. As a tenure-track position, this role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated and accomplished researcher to contribute to our vibrant academic community.

About the Position

We are seeking an exercise physiologist with a strong research background in the field of exercise physiology, including biochemistry of exercise, bioenergetics, cardiovascular disease, health disparities, infrared imaging, mitochondrial metabolism, protein metabolism, skeletal and cardiac muscle physiology, nutrition, sports nutrition, pediatric physiology, thermoregulation, neural/autonomic physiology, and vascular biology and physiology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop or augment national and international recognition and further enhance a nationally recognized research program as evidenced by a strong record of impactful publications and citations, presentations in national and international venues, and external funding.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate, master's, and doctoral level courses in exercise physiology at an excellent level in support of the School of Kinesiology program
  • Recruiting, advising, mentoring, and training graduate students
  • Direct student research including projects, theses, and dissertations
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of curricular changes for the program and School
  • Provide institutional service as assigned by the School Director
  • Engage in professional service within the discipline and/or community service
Requirements
  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physiology, or related field by start date
  • Postdoctoral training or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of accomplishment or potential in grant scholarship and external funding
  • Strong publication record
  • Evidence of innovative research
  • Experience or demonstrated potential to teach graduate courses within the program's degree offerings
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Background or interest in fostering excellence
  • Interest in collaboration
  • Commitment to the values and priorities of the College of Education
Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of ability to effectively advise, engage, and mentor masters and PhD students
  • Active participant in pertinent professional organizations
