Job Description
The Auburn University College of Agriculture's Department of Poultry Science is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Research Professor of Bioinformatics. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track research faculty position renewable annually contingent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
Responsibilities:
Develop a bioinformatics research program focused on analyzing metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics data related to health and physiology of poultry.
Mentor poultry science graduate and undergraduate students, produce scholarship through recognized peer-reviewed outlets, and secure extramural funding to support the research program from external sources such as federal agencies and relevant industries in Alabama and across the country.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. from an accredited institution in bioinformatics, computational biology, poultry science, animal science, or a closely related discipline at the time of employment begins, and research experience in using a multi-omics systems biology approach.
Documented evidence of the ability to conduct collaborative research and ability to work with faculty and students across multiple disciplines is essential.
Desired Qualifications:
Background in avian biology, demonstrated record of securing extramural funding, and experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research are desired.
