Job Opportunity: Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology

Auburn University is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the School of Kinesiology. The successful applicant will have a strong research agenda in exercise physiology, with a focus on biochemistry, bioenergetics, cardiovascular disease, health disparities, and related areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct rigorous research in exercise physiology, with a focus on securing extramural research funding
  • Teach undergraduate, master's, and doctoral level courses in exercise physiology
  • Recruit, advise, mentor, and train graduate students
  • Direct student research, including projects, theses, and dissertations
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of curricular changes for the program and School
  • Provide institutional service as assigned by the School Director
  • Engage in professional service within the discipline and/or community service
Requirements:
  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physiology, or related field
  • Postdoctoral training or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of accomplishment or potential in grant scholarship and external funding
  • Strong publication record
  • Evidence of innovative research
  • Experience or demonstrated potential to teach graduate courses within the program's degree offerings
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Background or interest in fostering diversity and inclusive excellence
  • Interest in collaboration
  • Commitment to the values and priorities of the College of Education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Evidence of ability to effectively advise, engage, and mentor masters and PhD students
  • Active participant in pertinent professional organizations
