Job Overview

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to enhance our finance department. This position is ideal for individuals who possess strong attention to detail, are eager to develop their skills, and thrive in a cooperative work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Support: This includes:
    • Reviewing timesheets for accuracy and compliance (e.g., overtime, meal breaks)
    • Assisting in the preparation and submission of payroll tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
    • Conducting regular audits of payroll processes and records
    • Posting payroll journal entries in accounting software
    • Updating and reconciling all employee-related payroll deductions (e.g., garnishments, tax levies)
    • Addressing payroll inquiries from external parties
    • Resolving payroll-related issues promptly and professionally
    • Managing the semi-monthly payroll process and ensuring timely tax and retirement contributions
  • Data Analysis: Analyzing compensation-related data, including wages and bonuses.
  • Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Support: Assisting with AR/AP tasks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Staying informed about all payroll, compensation, and tax regulations.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Recording daily and monthly transactions in accordance with GAAP.
  • General Ledger Management: Reviewing and maintaining the General Ledger.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing financial schedules and reports as necessary.
  • Month-End Closing: Overseeing the month-end close process and information returns (e.g., W-2s, 1099s).
  • Year-End Financial Tasks: Assisting with year-end compilation, review, or audit activities as required.
  • Benefits Administration: Managing employee benefits plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, ensuring accurate payroll deductions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll software.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and accountable, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Deltek software.
