About this Position:

Wells Fargo is in search of a dedicated professional with a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting governance and controls to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) within our Governance and Oversight team. This team interacts with key stakeholders across the financial reporting framework and is part of the Enterprise Controls & Oversight group that reports to the Corporate Controller.

The team plays a crucial role in supporting the company's commitment to maintaining a top-tier financial and regulatory reporting control environment, focusing on the following key responsibilities:
  • Conducting thorough evaluations of the existing financial, regulatory, risk, and system and organization control (SOC) reporting control environment, including internal controls over the Company's financial, regulatory, and risk reporting landscape.
  • Developing, governing, and overseeing Wells Fargo & Company's COSO and SOC-based policies for internal controls over financial, regulatory, and risk reporting, alongside SOC reporting. This includes strategic planning to uphold industry-leading standards in financial, regulatory, and risk reporting COSO, SOC, and general ledger reconciliation policies while proactively addressing internal control-related issues.
  • Monitoring emerging AICPA, PCAOB, and SEC guidance and standards, and facilitating group-wide training for interested and affected stakeholders.
  • Providing expert consultation on process and control-related matters, including assessing the severity of control deficiencies and associated remediation efforts.
  • Offering process and control support and thought leadership for EC&O-sponsored initiatives.
  • Engaging with regulators, external auditors, and other stakeholders on control-related topics.
  • Consulting on issues affecting general ledger reconciliations.
  • Leading change initiatives specific to general ledger reconciliations.
  • Acting as a change agent to foster continuous improvement in the control environment and adopting best practices.
This individual will serve as a governance and oversight subject matter expert with a focus on financial and regulatory reporting that adheres to COSO-based policies, leading oversight responsibilities for complex subject matter/control areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with business lines and enterprise functions regarding financial reporting or information technology governance, controls, and oversight matters.
  • Identify compliance and risk management requirements for the supported area.
  • Support the implementation of key risk initiatives.
  • Plan, execute, or oversee testing and monitoring involving complex subject matter or control areas.
  • Provide technical interpretation on various matters.
  • Communicate and provide consultation regularly with stakeholders throughout the enterprise.
  • Implement, operate, and report results of complex components of the company's policy, governance, and oversight framework.
  • Lead the implementation of complex projects and initiatives affecting one or more lines of business, risk types, or control matters.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve objectives.
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Reporting, or Business and Technology Audit, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, and education.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Big Four public accounting firm.
  • Background in the financial services industry.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Practical experience with SOC reporting.
  • Experience with internal controls over financial reporting.
  • BS/BA degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS), Analytics, or Reporting.
  • Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation.
  • Experience with governance and oversight requirements for regulatory and risk reporting.
  • Superior project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
