Position: Composite Technician - Manufacturing Focus

The Composite Technician plays a crucial role in the composite manufacturing sector, engaging in a variety of hands-on tasks that support the production process. Responsibilities include kitting, molding, layup, fabrication, and assembly of composite materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute manufacturing operations related to kitting, grinding, sanding, bonding, molding, and assembly using diverse composite materials.
  • Interpret and act upon prints, charts, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions.
  • Possess basic skills in blueprint reading and tape measure usage (in American Standard), adhering to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
  • Cut materials to specified dimensions.
  • Follow established methods and sequences based on material types, shapes, and lay-up transitions.
  • Utilize various hand tools, including grinders, sanders, files, Dremels, and drills for composite part fabrication.
  • Operate power tools and other necessary equipment to fulfill job assignments.
  • Work safely with chemicals, complying with all OSHA standards regarding personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring a clutter-free shop floor.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for cell processes and apply LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Participate in on-the-job training to enhance skills related to job functions, quality, safety, and LEAN practices.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, promoting a safe work environment and exemplifying proper use of PPE and safety training.

Work Environment:

Employees may encounter fumes, fiberglass, airborne particles, and noise from equipment in the work environment.

Physical Requirements:

Physical demands include regular communication, frequent bending, twisting, prolonged standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements:

No travel is required for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Technical aptitude, including the ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive customer service orientation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in reading precision measuring tools and instruments.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to foster a cooperative work atmosphere.
