Position: Mortgage Banker

Overview

The Mortgage Banker is tasked with building and nurturing relationships with Renasant Bank Branch Managers, real estate agents, and construction professionals within a specified service area to drive the production of various residential loan products, including conforming, conventional, FHA, and VA loans, along with any new offerings as they arise.

This role acts as a key facilitator in the mortgage loan process, ensuring a collaborative relationship with the mortgage operations team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Originate a variety of residential loans for one to four family units.
  • Set and maintain written objectives in collaboration with the Mortgage Banking Department.
  • Coordinate loan production efforts across the designated service area.
  • Keep an updated status report on all loan applications in progress.
  • Provide monthly reports detailing outreach to banks, realtors, and builders.
  • Engage with the Mortgage Banking department to relay program updates to branch staff.
  • Advise potential borrowers on suitable loan products based on their needs.
  • Arrange meetings to assist clients in completing loan applications at their convenience.
  • Collect necessary documentation for loan closings in a timely manner.
  • Support clients in addressing closing contingencies.
  • Prepare required disclosures within 72 hours of application submission.
  • Deliver weekly updates to realtors on loan progress when applicable.
  • Educate branch staff on conforming loan requirements and customer service inquiries.
  • Foster relationships within the local real estate community, regularly updating them on available programs.
  • Conduct market surveys to identify local trends.
  • Establish priority accounts and maintain regular visits to their offices.
  • Host informational seminars for realtors and new associates on lending topics.
  • Engage with local organizations related to mortgage production.
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations and internal policies relevant to the role.
  • Participate in production meetings as directed by management.
  • Maintain necessary licenses and certifications.
  • Work independently in an outside sales environment, requiring reliable transportation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Proven ability to originate residential mortgage products.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FHLMC/FNMA, FHA, VA, and general mortgage lending practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage positively with the public.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and understand regulatory guidelines.
  • Professional representation of Renasant Bank, embodying a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions within regulatory frameworks.
  • Reliable transportation is essential for fulfilling job responsibilities.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this position include frequent standing or sitting, kneeling, stooping, or squatting, as well as using hands to handle objects and tools. Occasional walking and the ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds are also necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
