Lunar Fluids Engineer

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled Lunar Fluids Engineer to join our team in developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will be responsible for conducting thermal and fluids analysis to define the performance and operations for various spaceflight systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct 1D-3D thermal and fluids analysis to define hardware requirements and resolve technical challenges.
- Develop and maintain complex fluid systems, ensuring safe and repeatable space flight.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive component requirements and system sizing.
- Present results to stakeholders and maintain documentation of analysis inputs and models.
Requirements
- Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Successful candidates have more than five years of direct experience in Space applications Fluids & Propulsion analysis.
- Strong understanding of thermal and fluid mechanics of Cryogenics with relevant experience preferably in space industry.
- Experience with Thermal Desktop/SINDA/FLUINT and running technical Space Cryogenics trade studies.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modeling propulsion/cryogenic fluids management (storage, transfer, phase change).
- Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) (Flow3D, CFD++, ANSYS Fluent).
- Knowledge of other tools including MATLAB, Simulink, Amesim.
- Advanced graduate degrees (Masters or PhD).
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++, FORTRAN).
