Job Description

Rape Trauma Services (RTS) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Advocate to join our team in San Mateo County. As a Family Advocate, you will play a critical role in providing support and services to families affected by child sexual abuse.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate RTS' efforts to ensure quality clinical and advocacy services to San Mateo County families.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with volunteers, clients, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with the Advocacy Program Manager to oversee and schedule Staff SACs to support youths and families at the Child Advocacy Center.
  • Meet regularly with multi-disciplinary team members to discuss case collaboration and consultation.
  • Follow-up with youths and families who have been seen at the CAC and the Keller Center.
  • Assess immediate needs of families and create family care plans, including warm referrals to family partners.
  • Provide crisis intervention and psycho-education to non-offending parents and youth.
  • Assess needs at the CAC to best provide support to families and make their time there as comfortable as possible.
  • Collaborate with the Counseling team regarding in-take, assessments, and case assignments.
  • Provide direct trauma counseling services, accompaniment, and advocacy to children, adults, and families.
  • Collaborate in planning and implementing outreach efforts in San Mateo County.
  • Participate in weekly group and individual mentoring.
  • Serve on RTS' 24-hour Crisis Line, including overnights.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required with a specialization in clinical practice.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English speaker required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an advocate and/or providing crisis intervention for youths and/or families.
  • Experience in a supervisory role desired.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, including ability to listen, clarify, validate, and respectfully challenge.
  • Ability to support the skill development of all Staff.
  • Strong interest in and commitment to developing and/or expanding trauma-focused counseling and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, provide leadership combined with openness and patience in learning agency culture.
  • Ability to balance autonomy, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Ability to manage many projects simultaneously while attending to detail and quality.
  • Ability to effectively outreach to various communities while balancing humility and confidence.
  • Must be familiar and experienced with using relationship-based and trauma-informed care.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT), Google Suite, and other commonly used applications.
Benefits:
  • $68,000 - $72,000/Year DOE + 5% pay differential for bilingual Spanish/English fluency.
  • Benefits package includes 20 days of PTO accrued/year, retirement plan, healthcare, vision, and dental.
