This position is tasked with generating financial support from a diverse array of institutional sources, including governmental bodies, philanthropic foundations, and corporate entities, aimed at enhancing and expanding graduate educational initiatives, collaborations, and services that benefit both students and the broader community.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional strategic thinking and communication skills, with a proven track record in team development, grant writing leadership, and pipeline management. This role necessitates the ability to distill complex data and information for various stakeholders to garner support for the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Development
- Craft and oversee an annual funding strategy that aligns with the strategic goals of William James College, ensuring sustainable growth in grant revenues.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize external funding opportunities, balancing institutional needs with available resources.
- Grant Management and Reporting
- Work in conjunction with the Institutional Advancement team to identify and cultivate a robust pipeline of potential funders through research and relationship-building.
- Manage relationships with a significant portfolio of regional and national foundations and corporations, ensuring effective stewardship and solicitation.
- Coordinate grant reporting and implementation processes with relevant stakeholders within the institution.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Encourage collaboration across departments and serve as the primary contact for inquiries related to grant applications.
- Design and conduct workshops for faculty and staff on identifying funding opportunities and crafting proposals.
- Partner with marketing and communications teams to manage public announcements regarding grants and awards.
- Oversee external consultants and service providers involved in grant development.
- Grant Writing Leadership
- Act as the principal writer for major grant proposals and provide support for other submissions.
- Assist in the creation of presentations and communications aimed at securing funding.
- Guide faculty in the preparation of grant proposals, ensuring compliance with internal protocols.
- Process and Systems Oversight
- Establish policies for grant proposal approval, submission, and stewardship to ensure accountability and compliance.
- Participate in internal processes to validate proposals against institutional standards and requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of grant opportunities relevant to faculty and staff initiatives.
- Track and catalog submitted proposals and record final grant awards in internal systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
- A minimum of five years of experience in grant writing is required.
- Experience in an academic environment with knowledge of federal grant guidelines is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are crucial.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Self-driven with a proactive approach to challenges.
