Job Description

Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Academic Data and Institutional Effectiveness will report to and work collaboratively with the Director of Academic Data and Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Director will be responsible for managing data collection and database structures related to institutional research functions, analyzing institutional data, and reporting using various visualization tools. This position will also be responsible for initiating and resolving systems and data quality issues related to institutional databases used for reporting.

This position will assist in guiding data-driven decision-making, strategic planning, and policy formulation while ensuring the highest standards of data integrity. The Associate Director will support the daily operations of the ADDIE team, contribute to efforts in enrollment management, student learning, assessment, evaluation, student success, program and course evaluation, regional accreditation, and program accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manages assigned projects and priorities, meeting deadlines with high-quality work products.
  2. Maintains up-to-date documentation on all projects, processes, reports, and models.
  3. Trains and collaborates with end users to ensure appropriate understanding and skills to utilize data and reports provided by ADDIE.
  4. Utilizes and leverages the college's data systems, reporting and analytics tools, and best practices in higher education data analytics to prepare data for the Director, other Administrators, and students.
  5. Determines data requirements and generates responses for compliance reporting to the federal and state government and accreditation bodies.
  6. Creates and maintains online dashboards of current and census data, as well as survey data, for college use.
  7. Collaborates with other campus leaders to maintain and enhance data integrity, ensuring all data is governed properly with required documentation of technical and non-technical aspects of data collection, maintenance, and applications.
  8. Leads student workers and temporary workers through daily supervision and instructions.
  9. Actively participates in continuous improvement efforts, contributing to institutional guidelines and policies, monitoring progress, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented changes.
  10. Works within guidelines and complies with all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards regarding data collection, maintenance, access, dissemination, and reporting.
  11. Coordinates office tasks in the Director's absence.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a social science discipline or closely related field with advanced coursework in statistics and/or research methodology.
  2. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  3. Management or leadership experience at a college or university or other experience demonstrating proficiency with leadership skills and the ability to step into the director role as needed.
  4. Familiarity with technology is essential, with knowledge and experience with ERP software, SQL, Microsoft Office, data analysis software, online survey/form development, visualization software, and other relevant tools.
  5. Proven track record of success in project management, data analysis, and research, with experience in institutional research or higher education data reporting requirements and accreditation standards.

  1. Strong leadership, project management, organizational, analytical, and communication abilities.
  2. Understanding and application of legal and ethical components involved in conducting research and analysis.
  3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, summarize, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  4. Knowledge of relational databases and experience designing, maintaining, and reporting from large databases and multiple tables.
  5. Ability to provide technical leadership in an ambiguous environment, troubleshooting automated processes as necessary and recommending/implementing changes.
