Manufacturing Process Engineer II

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive product design enhancements during the initial stages of product development to ensure cost-effective and flawless manufacturing.
Innovate and refine manufacturing and testing methodologies essential for meeting the performance and cost objectives of upcoming device applications.
Ensure the successful introduction of new products. Establish sample production lines and process development apparatus. Engage in proactive quality planning initiatives. Define functional specifications, assess designs, and troubleshoot/validate new high-volume assembly/testing machinery or tools. Impart knowledge to empower site personnel. Champion improvement initiatives aimed at minimizing cycle times, defects, and production costs.Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to verify that processes are capable, adequately controlled, align with our delivery timelines, and meet our financial targets.
Assess both Sensata's and suppliers' technical proficiencies, including tooling design, construction experience, maintenance protocols, processes and controls, automation needs, quality assurance systems, and material expertise.
Participate in equipment evaluations. Formulate, document, and disseminate robust processes and Design of Experiments (DOE) findings.Diagnose and resolve issues with tooling, equipment, and processes using sound engineering principles, including Six Sigma methodologies, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques.
Guide Process Engineering technicians in executing tasks that support process development, equipment troubleshooting, documentation creation, Production Trial Runs (PTRs), Production Validation (PV) builds, and Run at Rate assessments.
Facilitate customer audits concerning production line machinery, tools, and documentation.Collaborate closely with product design engineers and quality engineers to provide ongoing feedback regarding product design, risks, and controls throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
Offer guidelines to ensure Design for Manufacturing/Assembly principles are adhered to for new products.Create process documentation, including work instructions, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, and process flows for new products and processes.
Coordinate and/or conduct tooling and equipment concept and design assessments. Identify suitable machine and process controls for new methodologies.Draft machine specifications and oversee the development of new equipment to ensure compliance with product and process requirements through supplier site evaluations.
Produce Engineering samples, compile the Manufacturing Engineering Report for each run, and maintain yield tracking documentation for new products.Engage in maturity assessments, Design Engineering, and Quality Assurance reviews for programs to ensure proper follow-up on critical actions impacting project execution.
Conduct process evaluations to keep the program updated on process development for new products.Travel may be required for supplier, customer, and/or manufacturing site visits, but will be limited to less than 25%.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, along with two (2) years of experience in Process Engineering (or a similar field).
Required Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in data analytics (e.g., Minitab, Power BI, or similar); two (2) years of experience in Design of Experiments (DOE); two (2) years of experience in Problem Solving Methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma or similar); two (2) years of experience with CAD Software (e.g., SolidWorks or similar); and two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Hybrid work schedule permitted, allowing for remote work two (2) days a week within a reasonable commuting distance from the office.
