Job Description:

HITT Contracting is seeking a seasoned executive to serve as the Business Unit Leader for our Santa Clara office. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership experience and established relationships in the industry, with a proven track record of implementing strategy and executing goals.

The Business Unit Leader will be responsible for leading and managing multiple project teams to deliver exceptional results for our clients and generate profit for the company. This individual will identify project opportunities on multiple accounts, define strategies to win work for their team, and ensure that projects align with our risk tolerance and run smoothly from start to finish.

The qualified candidate will bring a strong understanding of commercial construction and general contracting, as well as excellent business acumen and communication skills. They will be able to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines, and possess a core understanding of business operations and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold safety as our top priority and monitor the business unit's safety measures and protocols to ensure OSHA compliance and prevent emergencies or recordables.

  • Develop a long-term strategic plan to build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with current and future clientele.

  • Leverage a pipeline of work for new and existing clients, both locally and nationally, creating consistent opportunities enterprise-wide.

  • Act as the executive sponsor and approver for all pursuits, while monitoring subcontractor usage across the company to ensure fair awarding practices and supplier diversity for the business unit.

  • Ensure all risk-related issues are properly documented and communicated, and resolve any subcontractor disputes at the business unit level.

  • Perform site walks to ensure milestones are being met, and review all health checks to address any challenges.

  • Establish and achieve revenue and profile goals, and ensure the accuracy and health of the business unit's finances and profits.

  • Ensure proper team and resource allocation by helping to attract and recruit top and diverse talent, supporting career growth and opportunities, and developing a business unit succession plan.

  • Commit to leading by example and encouraging engagement and transparency to create an inclusive and positive work environment.

  • Leverage HITT's strengths and abilities to position the enterprise for success, and identify opportunities to create competitive advantage in the market.

  • Model community contribution and represent the company in outreach efforts, as well as serve on internal executive committee to offer key insights.

  • Demonstrate humility and emotional intelligence, and the highest level of adaptability when provided feedback.

Requirements:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred.

  • In lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable.

  • Experience in the local Santa Clara market is strongly preferred.

  • Software proficiency and ability to adopt software systems such as Procore, scheduling tools (i.e., Microsoft Project, SureTrak, Primavera 6, etc.), Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Bluebeam, and JD Edwards.

  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required.

  • Skilled in business communications such as writing and verbal presentation.
