Job Overview

Position Title: Crisis Worker

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Program Director

Position Summary:

The Crisis Worker operates under the guidance of Management to ensure adherence to all operational protocols and regulations. This role involves delivering direct services to clients, their families, and associated support systems, facilitating the achievement of treatment objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Client Care:

  • Engage with clients, dedicating a minimum of 75% of scheduled hours to direct interactions, whether in-person or via phone.
  • Provide psycho-educational sessions, skills training, and supportive crisis counseling within residential or community settings.
  • Conduct medication observations as required, assisting the Residential Nurse with tasks such as monitoring vital signs.
  • Perform residential crisis-specific tasks, including but not limited to: early morning check-ins, daily planning, meal preparation and cleanup, and maintaining scheduled appointments approved by supervisory staff.
  • Handle telephone crisis duties, which include screening incoming calls and offering appropriate counseling, assessment, and referrals to necessary services.

Administrative Duties:

  • Ensure all documentation is completed as mandated by RHD, funding bodies, and licensing/accreditation organizations.

Community Engagement:

  • Participate in community outreach and teamwork, providing referrals and case management services to clients and families during interactions, whether over the phone, in the community, or prior to client discharge.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, or related fields.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 12 semester credit hours in relevant social sciences.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in human services, including at least one year in mental health direct care.

Working Conditions:

This role is set in a residential or community environment. Employees are often required to stand, walk, lift, and reach. Willingness to travel as needed for job-related responsibilities is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium lifting: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

Additional Requirements:

Mobile units are necessary for driving within the service area, including visiting clients in their homes to provide community support.
