The Safety and Security Specialist is tasked with establishing a visible security presence to foster a safe and secure atmosphere for patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts regular security patrols across the facility, both inside and outside, to maintain order and manage crowds effectively.
  • Performs inspections of safety equipment and facilities.
  • Offers assistance and information to patients, visitors, staff, and the general public.
  • Responds promptly to all requests for assistance, documenting incidents as necessary unless engaged in an emergency situation.
  • Utilizes security screening tools, access control systems, video surveillance, and intrusion detection technology.
  • Identifies and addresses unauthorized individuals, unsafe conditions, or other irregularities.
  • Completes necessary documentation to account for all security-related activities.
  • Adheres to the organization's policies regarding firearms and the use of force.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, or 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention (CPI, NCI-CPI) is required.
  • Defensive Driving Certification is mandatory.
  • Completion of Annual Baton Training is required.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is essential.
  • Basic knowledge of security equipment, including radios, alarm systems, and CCTV.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation of aggressive behavior.
  • Ability to transport patients as necessary.
  • Willingness to receive training and demonstrate proficiency with handcuffs, baton, OC spray, and restraint techniques.
  • Must pass the Active Shooter Course annually.
  • Training with PR-24 baton and OC spray is required.
