Job Overview

Position Title: Crisis Worker

Reports To: Program Director

Position Summary:

The Crisis Worker operates under the guidance of Management to ensure compliance with all operational protocols and regulations. This role is pivotal in delivering direct support to clients, their families, and relevant stakeholders, facilitating the achievement of treatment objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Client Care:

  • Engage with clients, dedicating a minimum of 75% of scheduled hours to direct interactions, whether in-person or via telephone.
  • Provide psycho-educational support, skills training, and crisis counseling in both residential and community settings.
  • Monitor and assist with medication as directed by the Residential Nurse, including vital sign checks.
  • Perform residential crisis duties such as early morning check-ins, daily planning, meal preparation, and ensuring attendance at scheduled appointments approved by supervisors.
  • Handle telephone crisis duties, including screening calls and offering appropriate counseling, assessment, and referrals to necessary services.

Administrative Duties:

  • Complete all required documentation in accordance with RHD, funders, and licensing/accreditation standards.

Community Engagement:

  • Participate in community outreach and teamwork, providing referrals and case management services to clients and families during interactions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, ideally in sociology, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with 12 semester credit hours in relevant social sciences, is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in human services, including at least one year in mental health direct care.

Working Conditions:

This role is conducted in either a residential or community environment. Employees must be prepared for physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, and reaching. Willingness to travel as required for job responsibilities is essential.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium lifting capabilities: able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

Additional Requirements:

Mobile units are necessary for driving within the service area, including home visits to provide community support.

  • Collaborates with: Program Specialist, Mental Health Professional
