Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator

Expeditors International is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining our enterprise legacy systems infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Systems Team to plan and execute migration of enterprise legacy systems infrastructure.
  • Perform a technical leadership role in planning, development, implementation, maintenance, documentation, and support of a large, complex, distributed server environment.
  • Develop and implement operational management process and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day full life cycle support of Unix and Linux servers, including installation, build, hosting design and service deployment, administration, user support, performance monitoring and tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Provide application support for deployment/installation as required.
  • Work with Program Manager, Project Managers, Engineering staff, and vendors to manage projects, drive outcomes and lead teams.
  • Analyze and resolve complex hardware and software problems issues.
  • Install and maintain the operating system and related software products.
  • Use alert monitoring tools and escalate unusual or unexpected findings.
  • Use security management systems and facilitate in backups and restores of data and application code.
  • Provide reports to users and managers of systems status on an as requested basis.
  • Provide documentation of all solutions to problems and document all application guidelines and issues.
  • Create and edit computer-based documentation and trouble ticket systems to document equipment configurations, track changes and problems, and compiles performance data.
  • Perform assistance, training and information sharing to users and other administrators.
  • Maintain leadership qualities and attitude in keeping with the standards of the Enterprise.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of RedHat / Solaris systems administration.
  • Extensive programming language experience (Perl, Shell, Python).
  • Experience with automation frameworks & extensive programming/scripting experience (Ansible preferred).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD processes using tools like SVN, Jenkins, Maven.
  • Experience in database administration including tuning databases for optimal performance.
  • Experience with cluster management software (VCS).
  • Practiced in designing and implementing business continuity/disaster recovery and high availability plans.
Additional Information:
  • Expected base salary: $140,000 to $170,000.
