Job Summary:

Beacon Systems is seeking a seasoned Db2 Database Administrator to join our team of experts. As a senior-level consultant, you will work closely with our retail client to plan and execute a project that requires your expertise in Db2 database management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with IBM Senior DB Engineers to design and implement database solutions that meet the client's needs.
  • Perform remediation and maintenance tasks on the client's major systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve database performance, including tuning, reorgs, and statistics.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Db2 database administration, with a strong background in AS400 or iSeries or IBMi.
  • Ability to work onsite for the first two weeks and periodically thereafter.
  • Initial tasks will focus on identifying and resolving database issues, rather than designing new databases.
  • Client is currently running DB2 version 7.4, with plans to upgrade to 7.5 in the near future.
