Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Facilities Operations Specialist to join our team at UTMB Health. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing at a journeyman level in at least one distinct industrial/commercial trade craft, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, structural, instrumentation/electronics, refrigeration, and electronics/fire alarms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively maintain all aspects of assigned area of responsibility, including performing detailed inspections of equipment for proper operation and identifying maintenance needs.
  • Consult with customers on priority of work and assume full ownership of customer problems and equipment breakdowns, serving as a liaison between customers and Property Services (Physical Plant).
  • Perform major repairs on complex systems and supporting equipment, starting up, shutting down, and adjusting equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
  • Participate in project designs, reviews, shutdowns, project meetings, final inspections, and commissioning, and support area shift coverage, on-call duties, and after-hours or extended projects as needed.
  • Complete all UTMB required compliance training and adhere to internal controls and reporting structure.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or recognized equivalent and one journeyman level industrial/commercial craft/trade as approved by Property Services Leadership.
  • Two years of journeymen-type plumbing experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. floor to knuckle and frequent bending, standing, and walking.
Working Environment

Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory, and/or office environments, with exposure to occupational hazards such as communicable diseases and harmful chemicals, as well as physical hazards, including climbing ladders and stairways, working on building rooftops, and working in confined spaces.
